Nakamura is new World Champion

The famous great chess festival takes part in Germany. July 27- Aug 2nd, 2009 Rheingoldhalle, Mainz.
The best Chess960 players took part in Chess960 Rapid World Championship, 28-30 July 2009. Rapid chess 20min / game + 5s / move were played. Two days of 3 rounds and the third day 4 matches big and small final.
Four excellent GM fought to win the title Chess960 World Champion:

• Levon Aronian, Chess960 World Champion, Armenia
• Victor Bologan, Moldavia

• Hikaru Nakamura, USA
• Sergei Movsesian, Slovakia

In the preliminaries Aronian had dominated the first day ( 3 / 3 ), Nakamura the second. Nakamura wins six in a row to become new World Champion.

Movsesian played a little brilliancy in the second game. Sacrificing an exchange, he pushed on the kingside, in the center and finally on the queenside, where he mated Black's king.

See the second round match's finish. The position is not from Sicilian or Ruy Lopez evidently.

World's biggest Chess960 Rapid Chess Tournament FiNet Open took part in Mainz, too. There were 263 players, a lot of GM, results of six the best:

There were two players marked CZE: Navara (23. 7,5 points) and Matocha (173. 5 points). Vlastimil Hort (72.) and Sergei Movesesian (6.). can speak Czech, too. Both lived in Czech Republic but aren't allowed represent it now.

Chess960 is healthy and good for your chess. If you get into it and not just move the pieces to achieve the known position it really improves your chess vision.
